The 82nd Research Council (RC) Meeting of CSIR-CLRI, held on 21 July 2026 at CSIR-CLRI, was chaired by Shri R K Jalan and attended by members of the RC. The Director, CSIR-CLRI, welcomed the members and presented the Institute's performance, ongoing projects and strategic initiatives. During the introductory remarks, the RC members emphasized aligning CSIR-CLRI's research with CSIR's vision by expanding beyond traditional leather processing and applications. They recommended strengthening research in non-leather footwear, footwear comfort, AI- and sensor-embedded products, semi-continuous processing, zero waste footwear making, MSME-driven innovation and product leadership, and application-oriented research to enhance industrial relevance and societal impact. The Research Group leaders presented the work carried out under the respective theme projects.
